The bold red 7 on the sleeve represents the maximum safe operating depth of 7 metres when breathing pure oxygen. Beyond this depth, oxygen toxicity becomes a serious risk, making "7" a number instantly recognised by combat divers, clearance divers, and underwater professionals around the world.

The French Navy's elite Commandos Marine are currently composed of seven operational units: Jaubert, Trépel, de Montfort, de Penfentenyo, Kieffer, Ponchardier, and Hubert.
